Hey beginner you may try finding a spot in your own backyard and clear it of any debris.

This is where you seed different items.

With known targets you get a much better feel for what you "hit".

The soil you bury these items will be different at differing times. Moist vs dry.

You may also have some body place items on an area free of metalic derbis and cover them with a piece of Plywood. Make sure the items are far enough apart to not interfere with one another.

Try also placing different items together to see how it "notches".

I too have a Garrett but mine is quite old. It works like a charm though.

As you get better you may even take all the hits you find even the small crackles. You just never know shat you will dig up.

My latest "crackle" will show up in the jewelry catagory in our find of the month.
