From the land of the Bluenose....have taken mine on every trip and only had trouble the second time when they grabbed them at customs in Cuba. 11 months earlier had gotten them in but the laws change.
When taking them on a trip make sure that you put them in a hard case suitcase least they get damaged or squished. Have the batteries or power source available near the detectors in case customs single your bag out ( will ask you to fire up the detector so that it works or no getting on the plane) on the belts as all baggage now whether hand held or going in the hold is prescreened before boarding. As a last precaution phone the airport security and check with them first.
When traveling to a foreign country what I do now is contact the consulate of the country I'm going to visit and geta letter stating that I'm just a hobbiest and only detecting the resorts and such. Usually costs about $50 USA for this and to boot the people at the consulate will notify you if detectors are allowed in their country. Good luck and happy hunting!
